Inspiring Entrepreneurship | Impact North's First Nations Women’s Networking

Following the success of the 2023 Change Maker series, the Impact North team kicked off the first event for the year on Tuesday 20th February in Nhulunbuy starting with the First Nations Women's Networking Event.

Facilitated by motivational speaker Natasha Short, and Yolngu entrepreneur and ELP Incubation program alumni Sylvia Nulpindtj, the event aimed to bring together Indigenous women interested in entrepreneurship and provide them with valuable insights and connections.

Natasha shared insights emphasising the power of self-determination in business. She encouraged attendees to recognise their worth and charge for their knowledge, setting the tone for a positive mindset shift.

Sylvia played a key role in the event translating Natasha’s ideas from English to Yolngu Matha to make sure that what Natasha was saying made sense for the community in terms of business.

The event wrapped up with a valuable feedback session, where attendees expressed interest in upcoming workshops on business mindset, tax/ABN, and marketing.

Feedback forms reflected the success of the event, with participants finding the content highly relevant. The majority expressed a strong inclination to recommend the session, highlighting the positive impact of the First Nations Women's Networking Event.

In reflection, the event went beyond networking and skill development. It celebrated resilience, empowerment, and the immense potential within remote communities. The collaboration between Impact North, motivational speakers, and engaged participants continues to pave the way for regional growth and economic empowerment.
